    New to site and CCW

Hi all! I am new to handguns. I wanted to purchase one, learn how to use and care for it and get licensed. Tomorrow is fingerprinting and I am done. I still feel like a total amateur on the range but look forward to some continued practice. I chose a Glock 23 because it fit me. I wanted .40 and something small. I have since learned that something small can be a whole lot smaller than the 23 and I will pursue that in the future. I have read through and found loads of valuable information on the site and look forward to returning in the future. Right now I don't feel like I have a lot to add, only a lot to learn. Thanks for all the help you as a group have to offer.

    Chris

    Welcome from South Carolina...
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.

Welcome. There is no substitute for good training with a good instructor. It will dramatically lessen your learning curve. There's nothing like instant feedback from a good instructor to keep you from developing bad habits.

The belt and holster are just as important as the size of the handgun when it comes to comfort and concealability. Don't skimp on this stuff.

Good shooting! Glad to hear you have opted for another form of protection for you and your family. You will learn a lot of valuable information here from many experienced people. After seeing your target results, I'm sure you will be making your own contributions here very soon.
