Hello from Louisiana
I've owned and shot guns my whole life for hunting or just shooting for fun, but I'm new to carrying a gun for self defense, other than having a shotgun for home defense.
I've been meaning to get a concealed carry permit for a while and finally took my class and submitted my paperwork about a month ago.
They told me it would be 100-120 days.
Anyway, just dropping in to say hi.

Welcome neighbor. I am also in the 120 day club.
Good news is, it'll probably take you that long to find a gun in stock and some ammo for it.

Well Blake716 Welcome from the mushy side of WA state.
WOW 3 to 4 months for a 1st timer. I would not sweat it Bro. I was told 4-6 weeks for my 1st CC permit and was surprised when it came in about 3.5 weeks.
While you're waiting for it read everything the Louisiana Statutes got on the subject. HUA

I live near Baton Rouge and called every place around here. I finally found a gen 4 Glock 23 (in FDE) and a gen 3 Glock 23C.
I was going to get the gen 4, but I showed up 15 minutes too late, so I'm the proud new owner of a 23C.
Now ammo....well, that's a different story. I was only able to get 1 box of 50.
The day before I bought the pistol, Wal-Mart had 4 boxes of 100 in .40 and 11 boxes of 100 in.45
I was looking for a Glock 19. If I had known I was going to end up with a .40, I would've bought those 4 boxes.
Now I just need to find time to shoot the thing.
