    New gun owner from Indiana

Hello DC! Very nice place you all have here.

I'm a 47 y/o first time gun owner. I purchased a Beretta PX4 full size in 9mm a month ago. I have a BIL who has been a gun owner and enthusiast since he was a kid and he finally convinced me to buy (he's been working on me for a few years now). Between him and the various forums (INGO, Beretta, National Gun) I've joined I've been soaking up all I can but there is always more to learn, and a lot more for a newb like me!

I have been to the range a couple times already and have 400 flawless rounds through the PX4. It's very easy to shoot but I do have to work on my aim. I'm the typical low and left at times. I know I know, grip and trigger pull. I'm working on it.

I've applied for an LTCH here in Indiana and ordered my first holster yesterday, a Remora, thanks mostly to the info I gathered here.

Not sure I'll have much to offer right now but I'll try and contribute what I can. Thanks for looking and have a good one all!

Hello, Dave, and welcome from Missouri to a great forum. Good people and info here!

Since you are new to this handgun, self defense arena, as you said, definitely practice, practice, PRACTICE. And, consider taking some good self defense handgun classes. I also recommend you check out the many free YouTube videos made by Massad Ayoob, a world-class instructor in handgun use and self defense, who has recorded training sessions in Judicious Use of Force, Shoot to Live, Home Invasion, Preparation for Home Defense, and What to Do After a Shooting. Just Google his name and these topics and the YouTubes should show up. Very good instructional information from an expert, and free.

Here is a very good technical review of self defense ammo, when you want to consider this:

Yes it is. One of the most under rated ones out there IMO.
