Hi all, my name is mack and yes...I'm from that 2A hating state of Illinois but please don't hold that against me. On Dec. 11, a panel of the 7th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, in Chicago, Judges ruled 2-1 in two combined cases that the state’s ban on concealed carry — the nation’s last — was unconstitutional. They gave the Legislature 180 days to pass regulations. After June 9, the decision has the force of law regardless.
As of June 10th 2013 Illinois will have to have either passed our clean concealed carry law or face the probability of Constitutional carry. Our clean bill is HB0997 a SHALL issue law. The full text can be found here: Illinois General Assembly - Full Text of HB0997
Anyway, I have been active in Illinois gun owners rights and bringing concealed carry to Illinois since early 2000 as a member of Illinois Carry (Illinois Carry - A Website Dedicated To Advancing Conceal Carry For Illinois) we have formed strong relationships with the NRA, ISRA (Illinois State Rifle Assoc) as well as many of the LEO agencies across Illinois. It has truly been an awakening being involved in 2A rights. It has made me much more aware of what is going on in our state and federal government and not just concerning firearms.
I have been an active shooter since the Dirty Harry days... Since I have lived all my life here in Illinois (Cook County no less) I could not legally carry a firearm outside of my home or property. Aside from my long guns most all of my handguns have been full or commander size aside from some MAK's and a couple CZ82/83's.
Now with the impending concealed carry law, I am looking for my first "legal" carry gun. I had a few top choices, Glock 19, M&P9c, Sig 250. Those are all fine guns but seeing as will be carrying mostly IWB I want something for EDC that I will be comfortable all the time. I am now leaning towards an XDS or XD compact probably in 9mm but possibly in 40. I need to handle them and would really like to shoot them first. Thoughts, advice welcome...yeah I know it is all a personal thing with many dependencies that won't allow one size fits all.

A man, without force, is without the essential dignity of humanity. Human nature is so constituted, that it cannot honor a helpless man, although it can pity him; and even this it cannot do long, if the signs of power do not arise.

Welcome from western Illinois! Thank you for your dedication in the fight against illegal gun control laws! I've also been trying to narrow down what I would want to carry. I think I've decided on a Glock 26 or 27. But, I'm sure I'll continue to change my mind a few dozen more times before I actually make a purchase.

Welcome from the Spacecoast of Florida. Glad to see some changes in Illinois are in the works.
I have a M&P Shield9 that I carry IWB. I can shoot it almost as accurately as my Ruger SR22P. I know they can be hard to find, but I highly recommend it if you come across one.
Wishing you the absolute best in your fight against the tyrannical IL government!

Condolences, from KY.
And congratulations, that y'all finally are getting to see your rights once the anti-gunning liberty-haters step aside. Of course, you'll still have them. But hopefully this is the start of good things.
That "clean" bill looks promising. Though, constitutional-carry might be all that bad a thing, if they can't get their act together. Might be preferable, to come about as close to forever taking such things out of their grasping, conniving hands as you're likely to come.
Heck of a first, post, too. Great stuff.

Welcome from Wisconsin & we wish our neighbors to the south all the best. Get that law passed fast & I won't have to drive around your state to go to Army reunions at Ft. Benning, GA & Ft. Bragg, NC, lol. After that vote the bums out on general principles. We did just that up here.

You could shorten your list to your first gun. Glock 19. Been my carry for several years....just works.
