I woke up.
Hello friends, Bob 2.0 here.
I believe in God, I work in the design side of the publishing industry, I play metal guitar and soft acoustic love songs. I write, paint, and I'm a part time tattoo artist as well, who loves his kids, comic books and an adult beverage now and then.
Not so long ago I was on the opposite side of the gun debate. Although I wasn't a "gun grabber" I was outraged by the number of lunatics out there using guns to commit mass murder and upset at how they were getting access to such powerful weapons. My frustration built as each side polarized with no apparent interest in meeting in the middle or doing anything meaningful to stop or curtail it.
However, I'm the kind of guy who likes to be educated before making up my mind on anything, so I began to look into this issue, carefully examining both sides. The more informed I became, the more I realized that disarming law-abiding citizens wasn't the answer. I began to wonder how different things would have gone if there would have been an armed citizen at that theater in Colorado, or standing guard at that school. The more I looked into it the more vulnerable I felt, and the more concerned I became about the battle going on right now over our 2nd Amendment rights.
Since then I've picked up a 9mm Beretta Px4 Storm, a Ruger LC9 for carrying, joined the NRA and just passed my CCDW class. I've taken my boys on the range so that they'd be educated about gun safety and they enjoyed it so much that we're getting a membership to the gun club. Thankfully they know that I've never had a problem admitting when I'm wrong about something, especially about something important like this.
So one good thing came out of the gun debate... another citizen woke up. :)
All the best,

You know, when you've got others whose lives are depending on you being capable of protecting them, all the vacillations can disappear in the mist of anti-liberty induced insanity that they really are. Glad to see you're seeing things simply and clearly. Can't easily protect yourself and others with what you don't have with you. And it's good to see you're introducing your kids safely and responsibly to the joys of firearms and shooting.

Well done, sir, and welcome. One piece of advice - watch your budget! Once you start buying handguns, you may well find it difficult to stop.
"Yet this government never of itself furthered any enterprise, but by the alacrity with which it got out of the way... The character inherent in the American people has done all that has been accomplished; and it would have done somewhat more, if the government had not sometimes got in its way."

Totally kidding... welcome aboard!
I have a very strict gun control policy: if there's a gun around, I want to be in control of it.

Welcome from South Carolina! It's encouraging to hear that some people still have enough of an open mind to examine an issue like this. It's so much easier to be willfully ignorant and follow the crowd.
