    Good Morning Everyone,

After five months of waiting, my CCW permit finally arrived this week from the State of Indiana. I feel extremely priveleged to be able to join this distinguished fraternity of men and women who exercise their Second Amendment rights, and take responsibility for the defense and well-being of themselves and their loved ones.

I joined this forum several months ago, and, since I was unable to carry, decided to "lurk", listen, and learn from those more experienced than myself. During the past few months, I have learned a great deal from this and other forums, and would like to say that I sincerely appreciate all of you "oldtimers" who are willing to share your experience with us "newbies". I do not take the act of carrying a concealed weapon lightly, and I'm anxious to learn all I can.

I am an independent insurance agent here in Southern Indiana. My wife and 15-year old son are also learning to handle firearms along with me.

Although I hunted quite a bit when I was younger, I never gave any thought to carrying a firearm. My other son, who is a former Federal Agent, and current Federal Police Officer, convinced me that in today's world I could not count on anyone but myself to protect and defend my family.

So, here I am - ready to listen and learn - and truly glad to be one of you.

    Welcome from Wisconsin!

You have a wise son. My son, a Milwaukee PO also told me the virtues of carrying. He was preaching to the choir. He must have forgotten that I was the one who taught him how to shoot & instill a love for firearms & complete no nonsense safe handling of any weapon. I was the one who welcomed him into the Army with absolutely no coaxing on my part & who encouraged him to get the Ranger contract when he was in the process of enlisting & he was showing interest in in serving in Special Operations, shooters each & every one of them. Now I'm working with my 14 year old grandson who I actually discouraged going into the military. Not that he's not interested but he has Juvenile Diabetes & that's a no-go.

Happy & safe shooting my friend.
