FNG from the Free States of America, Arizona/Florida
Reporting as ordered.
Fairly new to this game. Been carrying legal for about 14 years most of that time had a Florida CCW and got a Arizona permit as soon as it was allowed.
From Florida originally, Melbourne Florida to be exact. Think Cape Canaveral. When the heavies lifted, the house shook. Been in Arizona for about the last thirty.
Of course there are exceptions. In the 90's I was bouncing back and forth between Florida and Arizona and in 2002-2004 spent two lousy years in the peoples republic of New York, Manhattan with my daughter.
Started in the NRA Junior programs when I was 10-11. Been a Life NRA member for a few decades too.
Used to hunt a lot as a boy in Florida.
US Marine from 1966 to 1976
Two tours with the 3rd Marine Division in the South eastern Pacific war games. Spent MOST of my time with in a few miles of the DMZ.
Although I went through Parris Island did a shortened stint as a DI in San Diego MCRD, 1971.
Notably spent seven months attached to the 42 Commando RM in malta in 73. That WAS interesting.
At that time I restarted shooting the occasional NRA Bullseye/2700 Match. Also shot some PPC matches too.
Upon discharge moved to Arizona, (Married a Los Angeles girl. I refused to live in Kalifornia even back then. Arizona was the compromise. One of the better decisions I have made in my life)
Worked as systems Analyst for a bunch of years and burned out. During that time I also was extremely active in politics (80's).
Now I am a Critical Care Registered Nurse RN. CVICU/ICU ER. Have worked Trauma ICU and Cardiac Transplant units.
At times I have worked for Brevard County Sheriff in Florida, the jail and Florida Dept of Corrections DOC.
Used to shoot on the DOC pistol team, until arthritis stopped that. Then I started shooting Action stuff, Steel, IPSC, Pins, and IDPA.
Prior to legal CCW and well into the legal period I carried various revolvers until the early 70's. Favorite revolver for CCW was my 3" model 66 S&W later with night sights. Next great CCW weapon was the SIG 228.
I now compete and carry a 1911. Arthritis in my trigger finger prevented me from shooting my 228. Length of trigger pull is the problem. I can do it, but after a few strings, my trigger finger swells up like a sausage. 1911's have the least trigger travel of any weapon I am aware of. I am sure there are others, but I have been very familiar with, but not a fan of the 1911's. Jammamatics don't you know. Shot expert in the Corps for 10 years with ole' slab side.
Well the new ones are better. I will only carry a 5". It is the reliability thing.
I am a fat, diseased ole' fart and been accused of being opinionated. I will change my mind. But it is a difficult thing to accomplish. First you must have a lot of facts and very few opinions. They must be valid.
Two of my hot buttons are gas impinged systems with long histories of getting American Troops dead, and any excuse, and I do mean any excuse for not cleaning and maintaining a fighting weapon. About these two subjects I can get pretty hostile.
On most other subjects I can accept your right for you to be wrong.

Welcome from Alabama. If you do a search about those
you'll find that I have a tendency to be slightly opinionated on that subject as well. Maybe we can have a little conversation on that subject one day.
