Hello, New Member from Kansas
Hello from Kansas,
As Kansas is new to CCW I am new to this board. I have looked around a bit and there seems to be some great information on here that I intend to read and filter through over the next few weeks. I am a member of a lot of other forums and I like to add when I can. I am sure as I get to know you all I will have plenty to say, maybe too much at times.
First a bit about myself, I am 39 years old and have been around firearms since the day I was old enough to prop the barrel up on dads hand and pull the trigger. Growing up in a rural community my entire family has always focused our activities around firearms and the shooting sports. I own more firearms that I probably care to admit but most are good useable weapons and not collectables. I have two teenage boys and we all spend lots and lots of time together ether riding our ATV’s or in the field hunting or shooting.
Here in Kansas we are blessed with some of the best hunting you will find with Whitetail Deer, Wild Turkey, Predator Calling and Upland Birds being our favorite. I am active in many areas of the shooting sports but I spend most of my free time in pre 1840 (Mountain Man Era) reenacting and shooting. Ya, I am a big muzzleloading fan. My wife and I raised our two boys with hunting and rendezvous as our main family past time. This single shot passion has rubbed off onto my modern hunting and shooting as well. When hunting with modern firearms my favorite firearms are my TC Contender, Ruger No.1, and my selection of H&R Single shot rifles.
While I live in a rural community still, my wife and I commute to the Capital City of Kansas daily for work. It is this time spent in Topeka that has caused me to be an active supporter of the Kansas CCW. While I have been forced to carry in secrete for the past 17 years I will soon be able to join the rest of you and be proud to stand up and be responsible for me and my families rights and protection. While I have several good options at home, both revolvers and semi auto, I have no real reason to abandon the firearm that has served me well over the past 15 years. I will continue to carry my Taurus 85 as my main carry gun. I am sure weather, dress and situation may dictate that others firearms will be used from time to time but the old wheel gun has always been a good friend to me.

Welcome from way out West in Kansas at the intersection of highways 50 & 83.
Warhawks right, the good hunting is supposed to be a secret.
I'm a child of the 60's, but I got over it.
