How does one go about acquiring a permit to carry in Poland?

    Welcome to the forum.
It's not easy but possible in Poland especially since new gun law has been introduced (in 2009, I think).
My permit is older, but I'm also sport shooter for long time, so I have lot of sport guns and I'm traveling with sport guns for competition.
Basically you have three types of permits in Poland - sport gun, personal protection gun (very similar to CCW) and hunting.
You can't carry sport gun with magazine inserted so there's good reason to have CCW to protect not only you but also guns

Thanks for giving us the low-down on how it is in Poland! Cool! Nice to hear that not all European countries have banned gun ownership. I have a Polish P-64, that is chambered in 9x18mm Makarov. It has a horrendous double action trigger pull, but the single action is smooth and lite. It was made in 1971, and is T-34 tank tough. Welcome to the forum!
