Hello all;
Recent events have had me seriously consider getting my concealed weapons license.
when i was younger, mostly in my teens, I used to go shooting with friends. almost always with borrowed guns. seldom with pistols. riffles and shot guns was what my friends were shooting and seeing some of my friends were good ole' souther boys we got to use daddy's 30 ot 6 or 8 gage from time to time. one friend's father had a great .357 and when he was allowed to take it out (and we could afford enough ammo because it never came with bullets included) we all couldn't wait for our turn.
now I am older and find I may need to shoot more than bottles and cans. And yes. we destroyed a good number of cans with an 8 gage as dumb as that may sound.
I own a .38 taurus. an inexpensive gun I purchased at a gun show. Just to keep in the night stand now that we live in the sticks. I bought it because it was an affordable no thrills revolver I figured I could rely on without worrying about a safety. we do not have any children. I at least feel better knowing I am going to sleep with some protection near by. I always go to sleep with the drawer open and I have practiced taking it out of its spot.
Recently there was an armed robbery in an area where I do work on a regular basis. it was actually a few blocks away but the perps came from the area I work in. They were caught and its known that they walked to their target and the area I service was really the only place they could have come from. Plus they were found going back there. The robbery was ended abruptly when a store patron flashed his hand gun and the two young men decided to leave only to be soon captured because another store owner I personally know noticed them getting "dressed up" for the crime. In his words they were very brazen and didn't seem to care that some one watched them put on some masks. I figure they were also very stupid.
so here I am. figured I would ask some advice before I made a purchase. I apologize in advance for any stupid querstions I ask
