I had a 2:00am rude awakening yesterday. Knocking on my door. Woman when asked wouldn't give name, evasive. Saying open door and I'll tell you... yea.. duh... Wouldn't open the door under any circumstances. I am not a Doctor, cab driver, etc. I would call for help, but not give anyone unknown access to me and my home. First I tried to establish if she was in true need, broke down, etc. Saw that she had a walking cane, (weapon to me and she wasn't limping when she left.) Wouldn't want some one who was in true need to be harmed or turned away but not going to put myself at risk. She wouldn't answer questions so I called 911. I am sure after reviewing the whole situation that she was up to no good. My gut says there was more to this. I think their was some one else out there. Think this was drug related.
Living alone, so was scary. But had my 38 and shot gun at hand. Just knowing I had protection and the basic training, experience and knowledge to deal with situation was a big help. Didn't keep me from being afraid, anxious and scared but was able to keep my head. Sure glad I didn't have to use the shot gun, it really 'hurts' after.. my shoulder would be sore and bruised for days. Have used the shoot up in the air to deter trespassing. (No restriction in my area for discharging).
I am so thankful that I have the right to bear arms! I'm permitted and take my responsibility seriously. I grew up in a country setting and was trained by my Dad and family members to have good family values and to be respectful of everyone's rights and most importantly, Make sure I am respected also.
Being female and a small person people think you are a push over. My Dad made sure that I knew how to give the appropriate attitude adjustment if needed. Always be kind... until they won't let you.
