    New member from Illinois

Hi Everyone. I live near the NW burbs of Illinois close enough to visit but far away so I didn't get to experience the insane gun laws. I did four year in the Air Force and returned to Illinois to take advantage of the veterans benefits for Illinois residents going to College.

I never thought I would have joined this forum, last year if you asked me if CCW was possible I would have laughed at you. even when I took my CCL class in January I didn't think I would ever see a permit. fast forward to today I am looking at my CCL in my hand. right now it might as well be winter I have been CCW-ing a Sig 228 , Chiappa Rhino, and a S&W Shield. finally settled on the Shield as its the right balance between concealability, low weight, and comfort while going about my day. for now i'm wearing a OWB holster because while I do have good quality IWB i neglected to buy pants a size bigger so its a bit of a fit

as my total CCW experiance is about a week I might not have a lot to contribute but i'm hoping to learn.

every time I wanted to know a good belt, holster or ammo option google kept linking me back to this site

Unbelievable I'm getting in on the ground floor so to speak getting on the first page with a new guy. Woo Hoo. TBT that makes 2 of us Mister. I was sure last year the higher ups at the capital of Illinois would stonewall the process until Hell was iced up 6 months.

When I got out of the Service (USAF) the first thing I did was find a school and go on the GI Bill. Forty years later I'm living less than 2 miles from that very same college. In a not so small as it was when I came here small town. I've found in 40 years I prefer small towns over the big city.

IDK how old you are dude but I learned more than 10 years ago to buy my trousers loose in the waist to accommodate my weight from winter to summer. In summer I ate less and most of it was sandwiches. In winter it was hot food with lots of gravy. Gravy and taters stick to your ribs and working outside in real winter weather you need high octane gas in your gut to get through a work day.

Welcome to DC Bubba. If you have a question about guns this is the place to be!!!

Hi raven11! Welcome to the forum from Texas. This is a great place to learn and to share! I carry a 3rd Gen Glock 30 SF. Congrats on getting your IL CCL and on deciding to defend yourself and your loved ones. Keep working to increase the places you can carry in IL.
