    Hello DC

    Hey guys,
Duke here. From Philadelphia. Relatively new to concealed carry. I got my CCW permit about 8 months ago. Since then I purchased the Ruger LCP and the Glock 19. I am a big fan of both. I have brought my GF along. When we met she wouldn't even look at a gun. I got her to the range and she cried just attempting to pick one up. She is currently filing out her CCW permit and looking at 9mms to purchase. Now THAT'S progress! HAHA!
I have a question, though. She would like to buy a gun for home protection. She's thinking in the next couple of months. Could I leave my LCP at her place until she gets her own? Or would that fall under the "Straw Purchase" laws? Do they only kick in when the gun is purchased and given to somebody that is prohibited from owning one? I'm not sure off all of the details about them. Any information would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Duke

    Welcome from SC.

I'm not an expert on straw purchase law, and typically don't loan out my guns, so I'll defer to a more qualified response on that one.

Hello and Welcome from N. Alabama.

I don't think loaning a gun to someone falls under the straw purchase law. But I'd check the local laws first.

As far as your question about "straw purchase," the best answer will come from your call to the BATFE for their interpretation, but you will get many comments here, here's mine.

The straw purchase issues arise if you were to purchase a firearm specifically for someone else, either with their money or yours, knowing that person would be unable to pass a NICS background check. Merely giving a firearm to someone else would not necessarily qualify as a straw purchase as long as they have either passed the NICS check or would be able to.

In addition to Federal interpretationk, some states may have issue with your suggestion. Since I am not familiar with PA, other than to say I was there, once, I will not comment about PA's interpretation.
