    Shooting the ground

I would like to share with you a story that happen to a friend of mind, here in S.C. It was night time and he stoped to draw $20.00 from a ATM machine. He had to park and walk up to the atm. He saw a man comming toward him, and he did not feel right about the man. This friend of mind( will call him ray) is a big man with big hands. He took his hand gun out and held it in his hand as the other man came in closer. He could not see the small hand gun in his hand at his side. The man asks if he had a light for a cigarettes. Ray told him no and started toward his car, when the other man said, never mind, I have a match. Then he told Ray to give him the money he just took out of the atm.Ray told him the machine was broke, and he did not get any money. The man told ray he was lieing and to hand it over. This is in the middle of town now.Ray fired a shot in the ground, and the man fled. About that time, Ray heard some one in the bushes run off also. He got in his car and drove off.Two blocks down the road, the police pulled him over. Guess who was in the back of the car? The bad guy! He told the police, Ray shot at him and Ray was put in jail. To make a long story short, It cost Ray $3500.00 to get out of that mess. I think ray should have not shot into the ground, but he did to scare the bad guy away.He said later, he would have been better off, giving the crook the $20.00.

if you bring your gun out of concealment, for any reason, witnessed or possibly witnessed by any one, call the police immediately and report the incident, in entirety.

i feel for your friend, though :(:

    Welcome from Middle Tennessee!

I agree with calling the police immediately whenever you must produce your firearm and giving a full report.

IMHO if you take it out you use it and use it the right way........
and call the police.......but you dont use it to scare people you use it to protect you and your love ones

    Greetings

That tale is most certainly food for thought. Last thing we want is for the BG to ''get in first'' with his (lying) story!

Did the BG present a weapon or have his hand in a jacket??

If not, maybe some spray would have most applicable here.

    Welcome!

A huge advantage having a cell phone. You must report the incident and you must be the first person on the phone to report it.
It's worth getting a cheapy 19.00 cell with a PPP card just to use it for that 911 call.
Also most places have a law or local ordnance making it illegal to discharge a firearm within city or town limits so you must report a discharged firearm for that reason alone so there is at least some plausible justification for you having discharged a firearm.

Something to think about. Many, most, ATMs have cameras. Could the shooter maybe use this to help his case? There is something not quite right about this story. What is the charge? Discharging a firearm. Does the thief have a witness? I am probably wrong but the fine seems excessive.
