Shop owner in Ky who has had a run in with one or two people. Nothing too bad so far and hope it stays that way. However with the last fellow who came through it prompted me to getmy ccw. I have a .32 I carry but want some more power such as a .45ACP. Figure I could get on here and see what others think and how they carry such weapons.
Been around guns for several years now and am hoping to get involved with some of the IDPA events that take place. Really looking for a good gun to work for carry and play. Any suggestions would be great. Been looking real hard at Taurus 1911 in stainless steel.

Welcome from Alabama. If you do a search on my threads you will find the story of my father and his store shoot out. He used a .22 Magnum derringer and a S&W revolver chambered in .38 S&W. My cousin who now owns my father's business keeps a Taurus 44 Ten revolver with 3 000 Buck shot shells and two .44 Colt hollow points.

Most full size 1911's get to be pretty heavy by the end of the day if you are carrying them. I carry a Kahr Arms in 9mm but they have a
.45 out now that looks pretty good. They are the best in small, light weight guns for CC in my estimation.

First of all welcome to the forum.
I don't know where you are, but I am in Louisville and also looking to get into IDPA. Let me know if you are close and want a shooting buddy.
Like I said, I am looking into IDPA. I currently carry a S&W 642 and it has worked great for me. I need/want a new carry weapon and have chosen the S&W M&P9.
Now understand that this is going against the grain for me. I am a .45guy. However, the 9mm will be much cheaper to shoot than the .45.
I have a .45 and love to shoot it, but I want something I can really run some rounds through with it getting into my pocket too far.
For carry I will have it loaded with Speer +P's.
So that's where I am. Just something to think about.
