I'm a wee bit late introducing myself, but here we go:
I live and work on the sunny, hot, semi-tropical Alabama Gulf Coast. I'm a LEO (currently a detective). I've served a lot of posts in my job. I was even a SWAT team leader once upon a time (if that sounds like bragging ... it's NOT, trust me). Besides skulking about catching bad guys, I'm a defensive tactics instructor at my dept. in a curriculum which includes teaching Use-of-Force and Survival Stress as well as the usual "whack-em-til-they-quit" stuff. I have a martial arts background, and have a pretty extensive experience with firearms.
One of the things I like about forums like this is that so many people can bring their own training and real-world experiences into discussions and help each other out. Whatever the question or topic, there's always someone (usually SEVERAL someones) who have more knowledge/experience than me. I always try to learn something and these forums are great for that.

Welcome from the Black Belt of Alabama.
For the ones who might not recognize the term "Black Belt" in relation to Alabama an explanation. It has nothing to do with martial arts. The soil across a large section of central Alabama is a dark gray prairie type. It will grow anything and grow it well. The term "Black Belt" was applied because of the color of the soil, as mentioned very dark gray amost black, and the fact that it forms a belt across the center of the state. When used to describe a region of the state it applies to a section from just West of Montgomery to the Mississippi line that encompasses all or parts of Montgomery, Autauga, Lowndes, Dallas, Wilcox, Perry, Marengo, Hale, Greene, Sumpter, and Choctaw counties.
