Hi from the Outer Banks of NC

    Greetings all,

Saw this site on the S&W Forum and thought it was right up my alley. I retired in 2002 from the US Coast Guard as a Senior Chief Helicopter Rescue Swimmer. I now am a civilian instructor/training coordinator for the USCG Aviation Survival Technician/Helicopter Rescue Swimmer School in Elizabeth City, NC. Great job but I no longer get to jump. Watch Costners movie "The Guardian".
Been carrying a SA 1911 5", S&W 686 2.5" or a S&W model 36 since I was stationed in Miami (station is in a he-- hole of a city called Opa Locka). Enjoy handguns of all makes but am partial to Smiths. Do quite a bit of IPSC and IDPA shooting for fun and training. Great way to sharpen your skills or lack of. Learn something new from someone everyday so that's why I'm here.

    Take care all,
Roger (Sportsterguy) Love my hopped up Sportster!

Thank you for your service, Sr. Chief! Going into the jaws is tough, especially when that involves the unforgiving element of the sea, day or not, regardless of weather. Rough job. Rewarding, I'll bet.

I lived on the coast or in the mountains for nearly all of my life. I've seen the CG rescue more than a handful of folks stuck in a jam, and it never ceased to amaze me the variety of problems faced ... and solved.
