Hello to everyone in this forum. I must admit it was a nice surprise to recieve a welcome post (from P95 Carry) after my first post.
Who I am: I am an Arizona native who has spent brief stints in CA, WV, and ended up in North Carolina in my 5th decade of life. I have been an NRA supporter for as long as I can remember, and a Life member for 15 or 20 years. I have a Class III permit (take a wild guess) one wife and one child. I was on a rifle team in High School (funny how they don't have those in California), hunted for many years (although no longer) and shoot regularly, primarily with pistols. My interests include reloading and martial arts. One of my life accomplishments I am most proud of is that I have taught effective sexual assault defense to over 500 women.
Why I carry: I have never carried, but have considered it for years. The Virginia Tech tragedy finally made me realize that bad things do happen to good people, and that in a bad situation, a firearm may be the only recourse to protect me or my family. I will be taking the requisite NC class in a couple of months and will apply for my CCW permit immediately thereafter. Initially, I will carry my 1942 issue Remington Rand .45, that has been updated with an accurized barrel, commander hammer, full-length guide rod, new sear, sear spring, trigger and beavertail, all from Wilson Combat. I have owned this firearm for about 25 years, have more than 10,000 rounds through it, and it is more accurate than I am at this point. I know this gun better than I know my wife, so it seems the obvious choice.
Why I joined this forum: After I made the decision to carry a weapon, I joined to learn more about other's experiences, and have not been disappointed. I continue to be impressed with the ADULT behavior here, that seems lacking on other forums.
