Howdy gentlemen. Thought I'd sign on and see what I can learn about CC for citizens.
The wife and I don't live anywhere that we feel threatened. Plano, AHEM, West Plano is a world full of clean Hummers even when it rains, oversized homes, and freshly sodded lawns. Hell, since moving here from Kansas, I'm even picking up a British accent and starting to wonder why poor people just don't work harder.
My wife is about to start staying home full time to raise a soon-to-be-born little girl and she's turning in to a security nut (see paragraph above). I don't know why, but apparently our safe surroundings, monitored home alarm, and 3yr-old Pit Bull mix aren't sufficient, so I taught her how to shoot a few of the guns in my arsenal. Perhaps it was upon hearing that my mother, a virtual stranger to my dog, was able to enter our home with her Yorkie while we were at work and was greeted with the wagging tail and licking tongue of my vicious Pit Bull mix.
Has anybody noticed that when there's a story about a Pit Bull killing somebody or injuring a child, it's always at a piece of crap home and the dog lived full time tied to a stake in the yard? Oops, wrong forum for that rant...
To me, taking a concealed carry course and getting the permit is more about picking up a new hobby than carrying, and as an American, I like to have the choice to carry if I felt like I wanted to. I don't know if I ever will even after qualifying. I'll probably pursue it this month or next.
I hope to learn much from this forum.

"He went on two legs, wore clothes and was a human being, but nevertheless he was in reality a wolf of the Steppes. He had learned a good deal . . . and was a fairly clever fellow. What he had not learned, however, was this: to find contentment in himself and his own life. The cause of this apparently was that at the bottom of his heart he knew all the time (or thought he knew) that he was in reality not a man, but a wolf of the Steppes."
