I've been shooting guns seriously for a couple years now. I never thought I'd be a "gun guy." Sure I used to go plinking with my uncle (he had a 22 pistol) when I was a kid, but I never imagined I'd actually own a gun, or have a need to do so as an adult. But this attitude changed one night when I was getting takeout from a local fast food joint and a gang kid walked in with a full-sized semi-auto brazenly tucked into the waistband of his sweats. Let's just say he was "printing" like a Fedex-Kinkos. When I got back to my truck I called the cops, but the kid and his buddies were long gone by the time they arrived.
Anyhow, gun ownership for me was a slippery slope indeed. Got the first gun, a 357 Magnum, at the suggestion of the gun shop clerk; then started buying gun magazines (the paper kind) and reading them religiously; then learned about the 1911 and just "had to have one;" then came the Wilson Combat mags, the Kramer holsters, and the "habit" of carrying (both open and concealed) while I'm at home. Just the other day, I mailed in my app for the Utah CCW permit. Yeah, I know it won't be of use here in CA--but a guy can dream, can't he?!?
As you can see, I've pretty much become a gun nut. And I'm damn proud of it.
