Hello to all, from Oklahoma City

Hello to all. I recently completed a concealed carry class so am beginning the voyage of looking for that perfect cc weapon. I'm not new to firearms in general, but am quite new to handguns. I worked at a trapshooting club for nearly 6 years when I lived in Indiana, and was a member of the ATA for 3 of those years. Loved firing shotguns, and got into long range rifling towards the end of my highschool career. After highschool I joined the Air Force and didn't do much shooting of any sort after that. My dad gave me his Super Black Hawk for my 21st birthday, so I got did a little shooting here and there. After having 3 robberies to my house in the past year (yes I'll be moving soon lol) I decided I should look in to getting a good reliable semi-auto handgun.

I was originally really interested in the Taurus Millennium Pro series, but I fired one of those at a local range yesterday and was by no means inpressed. The trigger pull was way too long and too heavy before it even got to the firing pin release. I've also been interested in the Springfield XD Sub-Comp 3" series, and have yet to fire one of those. I did however get to fire one at the range yesterday that before hadn't even entered my thoughts as a possible candidate. The Smith & Wesson M&P40-C. After 10 rounds I fell in love with that gun, it handled immaculately! I'd still like to put some rounds through an XD before I make my final decision though.

Anywho, looking forward to surfing through your forum to see what good information I can find!

    Welcome from West Tennessee!

The XD subcompact is an excellent weapon. My wife carries an XD .40 sub compact and she loves it. I carry a Glock 23 and I highly recommend it or its 9mm cousin the Glock 19. The S&W M&P compact is a great gun too but what some do not know is, the compact version of the M&P is a little larger than you might expect, it is roughly the same size as the Glock 19/13 (Glock's compact size). The XDsc is a subcompact size, and as a result, a bit easier to carry.
