My name is Matt I'm 37 yrs old from Hamlin NY. I was an Eagle Scout growing up and used to hunt a little with my father. He bought me my first .22 when I was 13 and I killed more rodents than I could count with it. (garden pests) When I was 16 he bought me a single shot pump 12 gauge. We'd shoot skeet together with the clay pigeon shooter he had and reload all of our own shells. My brother and I would spend hours reloading shells.
I eventually got my Sportsman license and hunted deer with my father a few times. I had taken many a shot at deer but never took one down. (weird because I was pretty much a dead-eye with the clay pigeons) Anyway, my failure to bring down a deer and my busy schedule discouraged me from continuing in the sport and I havent hunted or shot much since.
I would love to get back into skeet and target shooting. I am not much of a hunter (dont have the patience anyway) I would also like to get my pistol permit as my father has several nice pistols that will be lost should he die. Always thought about owning a pistol or two anyhow.
So there ya have it, just purchased the paperwork for my pistol permit and have plenty of questions I hope some of you folks can answer. Thanks.

Welcome from Alabama, Matt. You have come to the right place. This is the premier concealed carry forum on the net, but within it's ranks there are people who are shooters of every ilk. We have hunters, cowboy action shooters, plinkers, trainers, competitive shooters, and every other kind of gun sportsman there is. The common interest that holds us together is concealed carry, but all the other areas are discussed at one time or another. You should be able to find either the answers or the location of the answers to any questions you might have right here on Defensive Carry.
