    "New Gun Enthusiast"..

    Hello to all of you,
I am a female and do not yet own a Hand gun.
I went to a shooting Range near my city this past Saturday, I loved it!

I applied for a Carry permit today ( Georgia).
I want to purchase a handgun, a new one.

I would appreciate any ideas, suggetions.
Also, where can I go to learn about guns. To read up on them? The parts of a gun, etc..

    Thanks to allof you!! E.

    Welcome aboard.
You have come to the right place.
You will find tons of advice, sometimes contradictory.

My wife and I have been carrying for over 20 years.

My advice is: Learn as much as you can but always make your own decisions; everybody is different, what works for me will not always work for somebody else.
The first rule of a gunfight: "Don't be there !"
The second rule: "Bring enough gun"

    Welcome !
This is a good place to find out just about
    anything about handguns
the best thing to do is to rent a few guns to
find one you like and come back here and ask
us what we think of it.

did you shoot one you liked?

    hi Everyone,
Well, the owner had me start with a .22, wimpy, I know! but, I had only shot a gun one time before. my fiancee shot a glock 9mm, I also tried it, I liked it as it is more powerful. One man there is a young marine and he helped me alot. I was loading it, shooting it and I was not nervous. I di dnot grow up around guns and have alsways felt it was something you had to be exposed to younger.

I am excited and I want to get a gun that will stand up to time, and i can carry with me.

I did not know how many types of guns I could rent..
    Thanks Ya'll!! E.

Just remember that a gun you carry will be a compromise between
    size and power
too big and heavy and you may not like carrying it a lot.
to small .like the .22 you shot , will be low on stopping power
also small guns with big bullets kick more because they are
    lighter.
As I said it will be a compromise
renting is a good way to find this out

Post your question in the Concealed Carry Guns forum.

Welcome to the forum from Virginia. You'll get lots of advice here, some good some not so good. I think you'll find for the most part everyone will be willing to bend over backwards to help you out. Pay especially close attention to suggestions from our women shooters here. They can give you hints and suggestions that will help you.

Welcome! What did you shoot at the range and why did you love it? I'm sure with enough info we can point you in the right direction.

    "You all are GREAT"!!
Well, I shot a .22. I liked it cause it was light, the slide was easy, and it fit my hand ver nicely.
I just left the local gun shop. They do not rent guns.
but, my fiancee and I looked at Taurus, a Beretta, some Glocks , a Walthour, and a Smith and Wesson. All were either 9mm or 10mm.

He is a Hunter, and is used to Rifles and shotguns. He does have an old 38.

I will check out the forums reccomended, and I look forward to the Ladies advice also!

I liked the way a glock can be taKEN apart to clean, but I do not like that there is only the 1 safety on the trigger.
I probably need to look at revolvers, too.. And shoot some of them, as well.
    Thanks everyone!!
