    Indy signing in

Hello all from the racing capital of the world. Actually just learning about handguns. Went shooting other day with friend and his HK USP Compact 40 and P2000 Sub Compact LEM 40. Didn't like the sub for feel and trigger. USP felt fine and I was able to shoot decent for first time. I am looking for advise on first gun purchase. Here is what I know I want: 9mm or 40 I believe, no heavier than the USP, manual safety, no revolver due to reload speed. This weekend I am shooting with another friend who has Beretta 9mm. I'll see what they are like and feel. From the reading I have doen I know it is alot of personal preference and feel. However with my preferences, I am able to eliminate alot of manufacturers. Any other advise?

    Welcome from VA!

Regarding a 9mm or .40 with a manual safety, the S&W M&P line is available with a thumb safety.

"Any other advise?" Keep on going to the range and trying out different weapons, you're on the right path.

Welcome to the forum from VA.

Don't rule out the CZ75 Compact until you have a chance to hold one and shoot it if you can.

Welcome from Michigan! Consider omitting the safety and looking at a Glock 19....

    Welcome from South Carolina.
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.
