An update from Kansas City
Hello all! Been lurking for a couple months now, wanted to chime in and update you/thank you for your helpful advice that I gleaned from various posts.
*Took my CCW training class Nov '07 with Reese Dalton. Excellent instructor, give him some business at his shop in Grandview.
*In Oct '08, started seriously considering purchasing a firearm if Bobama got elected. I knew I would be joining a huge community doing the same thing. I wanted to be part of that voice.
*Found out my wife and I are expecting our first child in June, so there's a life changer for ya. (And another reason to carry).
*Purchased an XDm 9mm from Reese Dalton, payed a bit for it, but I don't mind giving him my business. Also got my Supertuck shortly after. BTW, since it's made in Croatia, I decided it needed an appropriate name. Kressimir = Peacemaker in Croatian!
*Flew down to FL for Christmas with family. A bit nervous flying with the gun, no problems. Stayed in Orlando, carried for a week at the hotel.
*Just purchased some 5.11 Covert Khaki Pants, they fit great; pockets, elastic waist, durable fabric (kinda feel like Dickies).
All in all, this has been a fun couple of months! Thanks to all for the advice (even though it wasn't directed at me). I will be coming here regularly for new ideas and whatnots.
Also, looking for a good place to go shooting. I know about the local ranges in KC, wondering if anyone has some rural land they wouldn't mind me using. my gun and me are itching!!
Thanks and God Bless,
thepierce

Hey Pierce, welcome to the site from northern Michigan! I'm glad you found this forum and thanks for the introduction! Congratulations on your upcoming little one, it gives you another reason to practice and be ready to protect your (growing) family! Kudos on the XD 9mm by the way, I have yet to try the XDm and I'll probably rent one from the range next time I go and compare it my old-skool XD.
All the best and look forward to seeing you around.

We will be much better off when we learn to deal with things as they really are, instead of how we wish them to be!
