Central Oklahoma checking in!
I was checking on S&W 469 prices and came across a link to this site. I have already posted a couple of times and thought I might want to post here.
I'm a former police officer with approx 12 yrs of full time PD work and 3 yrs of reserve. I got out because I got injured and can no longer run. I can jog, but not very fast and I decided I didn't want to get anyone hurt (or myself) because I was unable to move quickly.
Anywho, I have been a civilian since 1997 and have had a CCW permit since that time. I prefer to carry DA guns concealed, and have a preference for either .357 mag or 45ACP. I usually have a S&W 686 6" in the car between the seats and carry an S&W 4516 concealed, in a pancake.
My philosophy on a CCW is you need to carry the same gun, all the time, carried the same way, every time. I used to work with guys on the PD that would carry a different weapon depending upon their clothing and carry it in a different place. All of my training has been a strong side carry on my right hip, with the safety off. If I do happen to carry IWB it is as a last resort. It is still carried on my right hip. I don't want to lose that 1/2 second of reaction trying to disengage the safety and remember where I am carrying my gun today.
OK--I didn't mean to write so much, I just got carried away.
I like this site and hope to learn something about some of the newer model guns out now.
Thanks for your patience!
To ban guns because criminals use them is to tell the law-abiding that their rights and liberties depend not on their own conduct, but on the conduct of the guilty and the lawless.
