Start with something easy to handle...weight and recoil wise...then you can guage which way you want to go...
A .357magnum snubby...in which you can shoot mild .38's is a good start ( especially for concealed carry )...and then you'll have the option of going with .357 loads for power, once you learn the basics...grip and trigger control.
