Greetings to all of you fellow DC members!
I have been lurking here since my join date, absorbing information, and I consider myself lucky to have found an online community of like-minded people.
A little about myself:
I am a 17-year-old male, a practicing Catholic, and I take personal security very seriously. I am firm in the belief (as are most of you) that there is a whole lot more to self defense than carrying a weapon.
I consider situational awareness / avoidance, physical fitness, and unarmed combat skills to be extremely important parts of my defensive toolbox, and I utilize all my senses to stay in condition yellow as much as possible. I also train in Mixed Martial Arts with great instructors.
My EDC includes a Cold Steel knife, a phone, a Fenix TK-11, and a can of OC. Whenever I leave the castle (even when I'm in it) I run scenarios through my head, establishing the location of hard cover, concealment, escape routes, improvised weapons, etc.
I have been accepted into a Criminal Justice degree program, after the completion of which I will seek employment with local, county or State LE. My plans from there are either to go to the Federal level or to enter private security, probably as an Executive Protection Specialist.
I am about as pro-2A as possible, and am a member of the NRA.
As soon as I turn 18 I will be obtaining my CPL (or whatever it is they call it here) and, when funds allow, a 9mm pistol (probably a Glock 19 or a S&W M&P 9c).
In closing, I would like to say that I have a tremendous amount of respect for all military, fire, and LE personnel. You guys and gals put your lives on the line for other people, and there is no higher calling than that.
