Hi from Virginia, first post
Hey..
Just found this forum from doing a search on the laws of deadly force in the State of Virginia....you know, enquiring minds and all that schtuff....
I'm a retired US Marine...now disabled.
I have decided to exercise my 2nd Ammendment right to bear arms in defence of myself and my family....this area has entirely too many felon's and drug-use rate to not any more I'm afraid. If it were just me, I really wouldn't care, but I have my wife and 15 year old daughter and they are my universe....I will defend them to the end, whatever that may be.
Like all of you, I sincerely hope I never have to pull in this scenario. I have seen enough from my USMC years to do me quite nicely for the rest of my life...but I don't want to be injured or killed by a idiot or see my family harmed and not being able to defend myself/them either....
I'm looking forward to getting involved and meeting other shooters. I have much to learn and plenty of time to do it in.
I do not have my daily-carry weapon yet, I still have to submit my paperwork for a concealed weapons permit prior to purchase.
I have decided upon a Taurus 24/7 Pro in .40 S&W as my main sidearm. I do not trust the 9mm caliber, and I believe that the 10mm and .45 ACP are just unrealistic as a personal weapon for daily carry for a number of reasons. With the capacity of 1 in the chamber and 15 in the magazine, that is an incredible ammount of firepower.
Thanks...hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks Bruce...
I always get embarassed when people thank me...it's just what I did and what I was/am....but I am appreciatiative that people recognize us and our service...kinda strange....
I joined the Patriot Guard Riders, which is comprised mostly of biker's, many Veteran's, honoring our fallen and to protect their families from idiot's who would ruin them by their political stance on the war(s).
I still have friends in Iraq and Afghanistan...I've attended far too many memorials for friends lost...they are my hero's...and always will be.
