Hello from Ohio
I've been shooting for the past 24 years. I love long range shooting. My first felt recoil was a .308 rem 700 shooting at paper 300 yards away at age 5.
I was proudly raised to know the rules of safe gun handling. I hunt, fish, camp and work hard for the things I have.
I started my CCW at age 21 after I moved from Ohio to Washington state (as Ohio was still anti CCW at the time) My first CCW gun was a S&W .40 compact ( an older model). I moved back to Ohio a couple years ago and purchased my second CCW gun an XD .40 subcompact. I now have a Walther PPS and love it.
While I was in Detroit, MI working a contract job I had my first and I hope last time to point my gun at a human. A man in a parking lot who had been drinking while waiting for his wife took a ball bat and began hitting my work van. I had been in the back of the van putting together some parts and my side doors were open blocking the path beside a cart corral. The man kicked one of my van doors closed and reached in with the bat to strike me.
I can tell you the man with the bat had a change of heart seeing me hunkered to the back door of my van in contact ready. I yelled at him to get on the ground and he complied.
Not a shot was fired and I thank god I didn't have to take it that far.
That is my story and that is why I carry. Not every situation will be a robber or a carjacker. It might be a drunk and foolish man not thinking clearly.
We all must live with our actions. We must never hesitate to defend our lives.

Welcome from South Carolina..
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.
