The requirements are different from county to county, some easy and some not so much. For the most part the issuing officer in many counties are willing to remove restrictions after a year or so after you get your permit as long as you have not been in trouble. In Montgomery County you do not have to show need, just call the judges office and set up an appointment and talk with him.

As for moving out of NYS I can give you plenty of reasons, high taxes, idiot governor, idiots in senate.............................

I live in Buffalo too but I also have an unrestricted permit. Get a letter from your employer stating you carry deposits or perform security functions at you job. I carried large sums of cash for my employer and work late at night. I have had my "unrestricted" permit since 1999. I also have no specific work schedule and am on-call 24-7.

Welcome to the Forum! Move - if you can. Check for jobs out of state. There ARE jobs to be found. Dust off your resume and begin your search. As others have said - life's too short to go through this crap. It's only going to get worse in NY and the neighboring states. Anti-s are likely to hold or expand power. Get to a 2A-friendly state and go for it.

Take it from a fellow carpet-bagger. C'mon down south. I've discovered/embraced my redneck heritage, and you'll be amazed at how much house you can afford. Life is good here!

I thought that you needed to buy a gun and have it placed on your license in NYS? You applied and didn't even buy a gun? First, please don't take this the wrong way....don't be overly paranoid....I know about over reacting, I'm sure we've all done it at one time or another. You have to calm down a little.....patience. Restrictions are for the politics...NYS Police recognize CARRY and PREMISE....practice and unwind just a little.

Welcome from South Carolina....Perhaps you could establish a "Home Based Business" that requires you to make cash deposits and utilize that as your reason/need for your full carry permit. It may be that you need to get creative while staying legal! Just a thought..
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.

    Welcome from Ohio!

Unfortunately, I don't have any usable advice other than move. NY is incredibly restrictive and there really is no reason to live there unless you have your reasons, like family, career, etc and can't possibly leave. If that is the case, vote. Encourage others to vote. Work within your communities to change the way your senators vote. Work to change the mindset. But even better, move. If NY reduced it's population significantly they would try to figure out why and might actually get a clue.
