New from MO
Hi all, just found this forum and 5 minutes later registered.
Got interested in CCW after an incident involving my wifes business partner. We sat down and decided that with 2 boys under 5 we needed to be a bit more prepared for the craziness of this world.
I am a professional land surveyor, did 8 years in MONG as a 12B combat engineer. Been around firearms all my life, but like anything else someone always knows something you don't. Thats why I'm here. Taking the CCW class from my sheriff this weekend with the wife. Don't flame me for my ignorant questions, at least not the first week.

Welcome from South Carolina...
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.

There are a lot of new people that use this site. My advice is to use the search function first--because I can guarantee your question has been asked/answered before.
What kind of gun should I get?
What caliber? (without setting off a caliber war here)
What kind of holster?
What are the laws of my state? (see handgunlaw.us)
How would you carry <insert scenario>?
Should I carry a spare magazine? If so, where? How?
I do recommend you seek out additional training beyond the standard course. Something that teaches shooting skills and techniques. IRT laws, you need to understand what the law says. If you don't and ask people's opinions here, these opinions are just that--if you have a question about the law, I recommend you seek out an attorney in your area who is familiar with the gun laws of MO.
Welcome to DC!
This is a great site that is well moderated--you won't get flamed here...but we do have some interesting discussions.

We will be much better off when we learn to deal with things as they really are, instead of how we wish them to be!

Freedom doesn't come free. It is bought and paid for by the lives and blood of our men and women in uniform.
