H i all,
Just joined a couple days ago. Looks like a very informative site, lots of interesting and fun reading.
I'm not really a gun person although they've always been around. My dad's a WW2 vet and taught us all how to safely shoot as kids, mostly .22, but occasionally more exotic guns.
I'm also old enough that when I was a Boy Scout, we had a firearms safety merit badge and a rifle range at our summer camp. I'm sure those things are long gone.
Guns have always been around the house, but mostly antique/collectors types, unloaded and well hidden from prying eyes.
Got my CCW last year and have started carrying a Taurus pt 709 as crime is becoming more of an issue around here... and much of it is violent. Predatory stuff. I'm not interested in me or my family being prey, so I'm trying to be prepared.
Georgia's laws are a little confusing, if any of you seasoned ccw types can clear up a couple questions for me, I'd appreciate it. First off, the law states that you can't carry in a bar, but a restaurant that serves alcohol is ok. But I noticed a vote last year to allow ccw in restaurants. That's confusing! Also, it looks like National and State Parks are ok now, is that right? I asked a friend that's an Atlanta LEO, and he didn't really seem to know either.
Thanks for a great site with great members, and thanks for any ideas or tips!

Welcome to the forum from Virginia.
Can't answer specific GA questions, but for state parks that will vary from state to state, depending on their laws. As to national parks, that goes into law on Feb. 22. National park carry will depend on what the law of the state in which borders they lay. For example national parks in Virginia you will be able to carry in, since VA law allows carry in state parks. In NC it will not be legal, since NC does not allow carry in state parks.

Welcome from South Carolina...
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.
