New from Michigan
I've been on the site a lot lately so I figured that I should as well join. I appreciate all of the information; seems like a good group of people on the site.
Well, I've completed the training, turned in my CPL application and am now playing the waiting game.
I've been busy: Purchased a firearm (bought an XD 9 and close to purchasing a XD 45), bought a gun safe, added an alarm to the home, secured my windows/doors, created a plan with the family in case a BG breaks in, and have talked my wife into taking a class. I don't think that she is ready to carry yet but it is a start.
I've been researching holsters, carry methods, and general knowledge. Like I said, the info has been great on this site.
I spend a lot of time on the road for my job, in some rough areas. I work a business that supports manufacturing plants in the Metro Detroit area, mainly, in downtown Detroit. I get approached by homeless people constantly and I figured it was time to get my CCW license. Plus, with the economy, it is getting worse by the day in Michigan. I think that it will get worse before it gets better.
My mid life crisis wasn't going out and buying a vette or boat. It was vowing to protect my family, my life, and everything that we have. Plus, with the recent Xmas act of terrorism in Detroit, it makes me feel uneasy. Not just from a terrorist but general society if everything breaks down. I just don't want to feel helpless anymore.
So, thanks for all of your help so far. Sorry for the long post.
Best of luck everyone and be safe.

Welcome from SC. Is that a XD45C or regular version of the gun. I have the XD45C really love it. Springfield seems to have a Glock type cult following if not as large.

Welcome from Georgia, and if I lived where you do I would be packing a tactical shotgun.
You may not like guns. You may choose not to own one. That is your right.
You might not believe in God. That is your choice.
However, if someone breaks into your home at 3AM the first two things you are going to do are:
1) Call someone with a gun.
2)Pray they get there in time." - A wise man
