First, here's the headline. "Execution postponed for suicidal prisoner."
I typically don't watch Leno or Letterman but here's hoping that they used this material in their routine. Heck, even I could do a five-minute standup bit on this article.
The short version: Good ole Larry is on death row for killing his neighbor and takes a bunch of pills within 24 hours of the time of his exectution. Larry doesn't quite get the job done and winds up unconscious (what better way to go, right?). So do they execute him? Nope. Gotta make sure he's ok before they kill him so Larry goes to the hospital. Larry gets better but the docs won't release him.....why? Well, ya see Larry's just not quite healthy enough for them to kill him yet. Judge issues one week stay of execution. Good grief.

What a waste of money.
Exodus 22:2 "If a thief is caught breaking in and is struck so that he dies, the defender is not guilty of bloodshed"
Ridiculous. Rushed to help him stop his suicide attempt, did they? I suppose the unwillingness comes from the age-old desire to have them know why they're being put down. I'd say that has little to do with anything, other than costing us more. So long as they're put down, it shouldn't be relevant whether Jim Bob is feeling under the weather, has cancer, or whatever. Apply the sentence and be done with it.
Doesn't the very definition of criminal usually include the phrase "there's something seriously wrong with that guy"?
"The flock sleep peaceably in their pasture at night because Sheepdogs stand ready to do violence on their behalf."
bureaucracy at it's worst.

How we behave as gun owners is important. Posturing and threatening does not serve us well in the public eye.
(Do not interpret above remark as being opposed to the death penalty. There are plenty who are deserving of a good old fashioned hanging.)
A good old do it yourself execution? If they would make the pills available to all, they could probably clear up the over crowded conditons in some of our prisions, making room for more of the BG's.
Perhaps they also ran out of alcohol swabs to clean the injection site?

Just plain stupid.
You may not like guns. You may choose not to own one. That is your right.
You might not believe in God. That is your choice.
However, if someone breaks into your home at 3AM the first two things you are going to do are:
1) Call someone with a gun.
2)Pray they get there in time." - A wise man
It should have read , "no life saving procedures will be performed".
