Son Takes Over in Father's Store...Shoots Armed Robber!

A 25 year old son give his father a chance to leave the store early, when he is the victim of an armed robber (repeat offender). He successfully ends the crime.
    Video of crime included...

    Miami, Florida

From the Boston Channel of March 8, 2010
    Clerk Shoots Would-Be Robber
A college student student working in his father’s convenience store shot and wounded a would-be robber and it was caught on tape, WPLG-TV in Miami reported.
Samir Al-Madi was back at work behind the counter of the Snappy Convenience Store the next day.
He had apparently spotted the suspect in the parking lot, and quickly pulled a gun from behind the counter when the masked man barged in with a gun in his hand and demanded money, store owner Fares Al-Madi said.
“It’s very scary,” Fares Al-Madi said.
The suspect, who was wounded and required surgery, is named Alexander Brown, WPLG reported. He is a convicted felon.
Fares Al-Madi said that he was proud of his son.

Great, but I didn't see any video, not even on the WPLG site...

That's a plus for the good guys.

Unfortunately the taxpayers will cover the cost of the surgery, recovery, and incarceration for the next few years when he'll be released to offend again.

Yep, that poor bad guy. Don't loose faith in him. He can cured. It might take a little longer and a few lives but they will fix him to become an upstanding citizen.

Glad the store owner is OK. Too bad Mr. Brown lived. The story had potential to be a happy ending for all of us.

Went down fast. Good situation awareness. You can tell Dad knows how close he came to buying a funeral. Too bad we're going to buy the punk's dental work.

This is a good story of a person with good situational awareness defending himself just in time.

My question is this: What's the deal with the charge "possession of an altered firearm"? I live in Florida, have read the Florida firearm statutes, and know nothing of a law or statute regarding "altered firearms".

    Can anyone speak to this?
