Nice
That happened not even 10 miles from me!! I have got to get a CCP so I can defend myself if someone tries that with me. I'm glad the man was able to defend himself from the BGs. I hope the police catch up to the other one soon.
Good job. another scumbag in the dirt.
You may not like guns. You may choose not to own one. That is your right.
You might not believe in God. That is your choice.
However, if someone breaks into your home at 3AM the first two things you are going to do are:
1) Call someone with a gun.
2)Pray they get there in time." - A wise man
Good to see he was prepared.
OCOEE, Fla. --
A homeowner in Ocoee fought back when he was confronted during a home invasion on Tuesday.
David Henry's wife and daughter were inside at the time of the shooting. Henry's wife said she heard gunfire and her husband moaning. That's when she called 911.
The attack happened just after 12:30 a.m. along Pomegranate Court in the Orchard Park subdivision.
Investigators said the suspects waited for Henry. Once he exited his sport utility vehicle, they said he was pistol-whipped before an exchange of gunfire between the assailants and Henry.
The shooting awoke an otherwise quiet neighborhood.
"I was sleeping and not even sure what time it was. I was a little disoriented when my daughter came to me and said she heard shots fired. My wife heard the same thing," neighbor John Hamaric said.
Henry has a concealed weapons permit. He suffered a gunshot wound to the arm and was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
One of the suspects in the attack died while being transported to Health Central Hospital. Another attacker fled.
Both of the assailants were wanted in connection with a recent home invasion in Lake County. Ocoee investigators said the dead man had an extensive criminal history. A third man who was wanted in the Lake County incident was jailed.
Henry is not currently facing any charges in connection with the Ocoee incident.
Who knows where this would have gone had he not been able to protect himself & family. Well, one BG down and the other is facing a death in a crime he was involved in, even if it was his partner.
I'm just glad that the individual involved is going to be ok.![]()
A bit more info from the Orlando Sentinel:
The video in the article is an interview with a LEO and has a decent bit of information not mentioned in the article itself.Police in Ocoee are investigating a home-invasion shooting Tuesday morning that ended when the homeowner fatally injured one of the armed attackers.
Hours after the shooting, a resident at the 2-story, yellow and white-trimmed house used a hose to wash the blood off the driveway.
Friends and family at the house located off a quiet Ocoee cul-de-sac did not speak to the media.
The dead man was identified as David Butler, 37, who police say had a violent criminal history, including a current warrant for his arrest in connection with a Lake County home invasion. The homeowner, Dave Walter Henry, 40, is not facing charges in the shooting.
Henry, the owner of D&H Professional Auto Body, suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. His condition is not known.
Detectives with the Ocoee Police Department are searching for a second intruder who fled from the scene. Police did not identify the fatally wounded attacker or release a description of the intruder on the run.
Police Department Sgt. Mike Bryant said detectives do not know the motive behind the home invasion.
Reports from the Police Department show officers responded to a home on Pomegranate Court at 12:30 a.m. after a call about an armed robbery and shooting.
Police said Henry had returned home from his auto body shop when he noticed a suspicious vehicle in the cul-de-sac in front of his home.
Two men then walked out of the car with a firearm and tried to rob him. At some point, Henry pulled out his own weapon from the vehicle and confronted the intruders.
At least one of the suspects pistol-whipped Henry during the scuffle before they exchanged gunfire on the driveway.
"The homeowner fired three shots and at least two [shots] were fired at him," Bryant said. Police said the victim has a concealed-weapon permit.
A round struck Henry outside his home; however, he also fatally injured one of his attackers.
Dogs with the Police Department's K-9 unit searched the area for the other intruder, but were not able to locate him.
Rescue crews responded to the scene and transported Henry to Orlando Regional Medical Center.
Crews took the injured attacker to Health Central Hospital in Ocoee. He died at the hospital, records show.
"[Henry] defended himself and in this particular case, it looks like the good guy won," Bryant said.
Anyone with information about the home invasion and shooting is asked to call the Ocoee Police Department at 407-905-3160 or Crimeline at 407-423-8477.
