Police ticket man who wore gun in store | The Columbian
"A man who was seen in a Vancouver supermarket with a handgun visible in a holster — prompting a call to 911 on Friday — was ticketed and released with a court date, police said."

This happened near where I live. I stopped in the store minutes after if happened. One of the clerks told me what happened and I wasn't surprised. Vancouver is a great city, but our police force leaves plenty to be desired.
I can't wait until the judge throws this out. I'd like to see the cop get some education on state firearms laws, but chances are he won't.
Anyhow, over on opencarry.org an event is being planned in response to this.
Vancouver, WA Open Carry Event
I don't own a handgun, but I'll be there in support. If anyone here is in the Vancouver, WA area feel free to join in!
EDIT: According to the mans wife posting at OpenCarry.org, the police also confiscated his firearm. scroll about halfway down th page.

Ok, let me start over on this.
Washington is not an open carry state right?

Ok, I'm just asking now because your saying one thing and the law I read above in your link said another, but it seems the State itself is very confused as to what is discretionary or not. I'm just interested is all.
OpenCarry.org - State Information For Washington
Washington State has a non-discretionary concealed handgun license law--and it was the first state to do so, in 1961. It also has a law that, for practical purposes, bans open carry of handguns in cities. I say "for practical purposes" because even though it is not a direct ban, the language is sufficiently loose that if you were to walk down the streets of Seattle with a handgun in a hip holster, I suspect that you would be arrested under this statute, which makes it unlawful "for any person to carry, exhibit, display, or draw any firearm, dagger, sword, knife or other cutting or stabbing instrument, club, or any other weapon apparently capable of producing bodily harm, in a manner, under circumstances, and at a time and place that either manifests an intent to intimidate another or that warrants alarm for the safety of other persons."1
