NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — North Little Rock police say they know the second man involved in the Christmas Eve slaying of a Salvation Army major who was killed in front of his three young children. But the suspect is dead.
Police said Monday that 20-year-old Brandon Leavy was fatally shot during an attempted robbery two weeks after the Dec. 24 killing of Philip Wise.
The other suspect, 19-year-old Laquan Javaris Fitzpatrick, was arrested earlier this month.
Investigators say Wise was gunned down after dropping off two bell ringers on the last day of the organization’s fundraising campaign.
Wise was originally from Weirton, W.Va., and his wife, Cindy, was from Charleston, W.Va.
