Glad to hear I didn't get your full meaning!
I do still disagree somewhat. It seems to me the most crime occurs where the citizens are unarmed and the least where they are. Maybe I just look at things in too simple terms.
One thing is for sure... At least most criminals perform some sort of victim selection process. Looking for the weak in the herd.
If they feel you may give them more problems than what it's worth to them, they'll likely move on and look for an easier mark.
When in prison, most criminals who were willing to be interviewed admitted that they have had targets they avoided at the last minute because they just couldn't tell for sure if their intended target was armed or not, or just got a feeling it'd be trouble to go ahead with the attack.
Compared to the masses, most people who ccw at least tend to have a higher situational awareness to their surroundings and present less of a "victim profile" to the criminal element.
Now, they are still going to hit people who they know may have lots of cash, like pizza delivery drivers. So they may focus more on the money and less on whether that particular driver is carrying a gun.
As far as I'm concerned... Carry your firearm for defense, but be damn sure you are aware of what's going on around you and that you are not looking like a "victim" to those who may be profiling you.
"The gun is the great equalizer... For it is the gun, that allows the meek to repel the monsters; Whom are bigger, stronger and without conscience, prey on those who without one, would surely perish."
