    Musta been wearing clown shoes

    (Two Houston men are behind bars after the allegedly tried to hide almost five pounds of cocaine in their shoes.

    U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) officers arrested Xavier Henry Mendez, Jr. and Manuel Pedroza, Jr. on federal drug charges Sunday.

    The two Houston men walked up from Mexico at Brownsville’s B&M International Bridge.

    Court records show the men were referred to secondary inspection where customs officers allegedly found cocaine hidden in their shoes.

    Customs officers reported finding a total of 4.9 pounds of cocaine in their footwear.

    The two men allegedly told customs officers there were going to get paid $500 dollars to deliver the drugs.

    Both men appeared before U.S. Magistrate Court Judge Ronald Morgan in Brownsville on Monday morning.

    Public records show that 39-year-old Mendez and 33-year-old Pedroza are both from Houston.

    Judge Morgan denied bond for both of them until a Thursday afternoon hearing.)
