GA TECH Crime out of control!!! Good, bad, and ugly!

So this is the third major incident THIS WEEK that's occured at the GT campus. BTW this is the 30th major incident this year involving violent crimes on their campus.

    BAD
It starts tuesday morning with a girl walking home from the library and is carjacked.

    BAD
Then Wednesday some students were victimized by home invasion in apartments directly across the street from the main campus.

    UGLY
In the early hours this morning two students walking to their were carjacked by an armed assailant. THEN while walking to call help they were MUGGED by an armed assailant. Talk about being kicked while you're down.

But there is a silver lining here...

    GOOD!!
Cops find the stolen car with thug assailants in it. The driver then proceeds to have an armed confrontation with the police and ends up having an early breakfast of lead and then proceeds to die from lead poisoning. Two others were in the car and detained.

GA also has the recently proposed SB308 which would allow student to carry and finally arm themselves...BUT the president of GT is strongly opposed toward this notion. I guess he's more keen to the idea of a student needing to die in a confrontation before he needs to take actions to protect the students attending his University. At what point do the students say enough is enough??? I imagine "BUD" Peterson won't even budge on the subject until he begins to see a decline in admissions.

Someone needs to hold GA Tech's president's feet to the fire, maybe video tape some of these incidents and show them to him (if you can get him to pull his head out long enough to see them!)

Of course, actually filming these dirtbags is far from easy and may change what happens (they may come after YOU, or just target someone else). But a lot of what universities do is to ignore such problems or try to hide them. That has got to STOP. It is truly despicable for the university to pretend the campus is "safe" and then have to tell a bereaved parent that their daughter was killed ON CAMPUS by one of these scumbags. We need to trumpet to the high heavens what a liar the college president is when he says he is doing something about the problem.
Anti-gunners seem to believe that if we just pass enough laws, we can have utopia. Unfortunately, utopia is NOT one of our choices.

GT is in Atlanta, right? Is this that surprising? I love me some ATL, but c'mon. The place has been going downhill over the past 10 yrs. Even Buckhead used to be safe back in '98, not so much now.

Nothing will change until the university president is robbed on the campus, or has his university home 'invaded'...then it will become a serious problem...

You are correct. But, I suspect the police patrols near his house will ensure that doesn't happen. Maybe they should be patrolling the higher crime areas....

Let him or his become a victim and he'll be on the bandwagon for our team!

He obviously doesn't read the police reports from his own campus. Why would he think there is a problem.

I understand it is bad in Atlanta but what I don't understand is people walking home being carjacked???
