Good: Armed robbery victim turns the tables on three armed assailants

RANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Authorities are searching for an attempted robber in Winter Garden.

A man at a bank ATM found himself staring down the barrel of a gune arly Friday morning. He told police he spotted a suspicious SUV parked across the street from the back when all of a sudden the SUV was parked next to him and a gunman got out. Police said the gunman opened fire on the bank customer but he was also armed. The victim drew his weapon and returned fire hitting the gunman three times.

Lt. Keith Ralston of the Winter Garden Police Department said the injured gunman got back into the getaway vehicle with his two partners and they all took off. Some police officers nearby heard the gunfire and immediately began searching the area. Lt. Ralston said officers saw the getaway vehicle speeding and driving recklessly. They followed the driver until he turned onto Roper Road. The vehicle stopped and three people got out. One of the people in the silver SUV told police he had been shot. Police said two others fled into the woods but not for long.

    Winter Garden robbery and shooting
Looks like pretty good shooting on the part of the would-be victim - the video seems to shot three marked locations of brass, which may mean he went three hits for three shots.

Now, the bad. The victim was at an ATM at 0300, and noticed the "suspicious" vehicle containing the failed robbers before he pulled up to the ATM. Seems to me that that would have been an excellent opportunity to drive away and save himself a lot of aggravation (as well as risk to his own life).

They're still looking for the third suspect. The one he shot is in critical condition in the hospital, and one of the remaining two was caught after a brief chase.

    Terrible spelling in that report.

Unless the victims admit to the robbery it could have been anything.

Definitely pass up the quick cash in that circumstance.

Avoidance and timeliness would prevent a lot of problems like this.

It did get three BG's off the street for a while.

Bravo Zulu on ourATM customer for fighting back. Now, I hope he learned to do his banking at a more reasonable hour with suspisious SUV's lurking about.

Why would anyone go to an ATM at 3:00 am? That just sounds like the makings of a bad situation. Glad he's OK...hope he changes his banking habits.

IMO The victim has done a good amount of shooting before this event.

Shame Florida is not an OC state. If he had, this probably would not have happened.

Hmm. I would think the bank's external or atm cams would help with that...if they have them
