Exclamation Handgun Stolen At NRA Convention!!

Just arrived back in our Charlotte hotel room and I thought I'd share this with y'all. (Three days in the South and I'm already talking like them)

As I was leaving, I passed the Taurus booth just as the police were arriving. There was a conspicuous gap in their display of compact handguns. Someone had snipped the aircraft cable that secured the handguns to the display. I don't know if it was a semi or a wheel-gun but it's gone now.

The display firearms have been "neutered" but can be brought back to service with little trouble I'm sure.

This happened just as a small delegation of "anti's" was holding a demonstration outside the entrance top the convention centre.

It definitely wasn't secured with aircraft cable, your not going to cut that with a set of cutters that you can hide up your sleeve or in a pocket.
I'm surprised they don't use an alarmed cable at something like that.

Send him to prison for stupidity... Should have picked an Ed Brown or a Les Baer.

My thought as I walked around there today was how easy it would be to walk away with a bunch of stuff if you were so inclined. Many of the guns were not even tethered. With almost 40,000 peeps there today I guess a few bad eggs should be expected.

Depending on the thickness of the cable, there are handheld cutters that can fit in a pocket or up a sleeve. They are no bigger than a pair of pliers. It's the thicker cables that requires a hydraulic cutter.

Sorry, I used to work in a construction supply store. I cut a lot of cable and chains there.

Amazingly enough though, the High Point booth remained secure!!

    NRA Convention

Though I live less than two hours away from Charlotte I decided not to attend the Convention. I was concerned with crowds and also the "nut factor" protesting outside. As for the theft of guns from the show I'm always concerned about that possibility and worry about what the culprit plans for the gun. I'm sure the serial number will be shaved because it will be in NCIC immediately. Too bad about that. I bought a Taurus Public DEfender this week so Taurus should not go under because of the theft (kidding).
