Top 100 Place to Eat in Alabama-Attempted Robbery

Alright it's not in the news, at least not yet anyway, but a lesson for us. Loyless Donuts is one of the top 100 places to eat in Alabama and it just happens to be in Dothan. It's a mom and pop donut shop that has been in business for decades. They go to work about 1am and have fresh made to order donuts. You call and leave a message on their machine and come pick them up the next morning. They make extra and are always sold out by about 7:30am. Great people...
I called in an order yesterday and went a little before 6am to pick them up. There was a discussion going on behind the counter and heard a couple of words that got my antenna up. Seems that sometime in the am, 3 Hispanic males burst through the front door with masks on and began shouting "money!," repeatedly.
1 had a gun and another a billy club. Mr. Loyless (easily in his 70's maybe older) grabbed the man with the gun and began to wrestle with him. They kept shouting (with heavy Hispanic accents) and wrestling until finally the 2nd or 3rd man shouted to leave.
Lucky it's not on the news I guess...

Sounds like the three amigos weren't very prepared, or perhaps their gun was a toy -- or maybe the old man was a great fighter! Anyway, good on him!

the robbers probably weren't prepared to actually use their weapons on anyone, or they weren't loaded. gutless. Either way, good for the old man! someone was looking out for him.
