The case went to trial last week after Raymond John Friesen pleaded not guilty to uttering threats to kill.

Andrew Da Ros, the former maintenance man of a Willemar Avenue apartment building, said he was doing his rounds on July 29 when Friesen began shouting that he was going kill him and making a shooting-gun gesture with his fingers.

Sounds like he was let off easy. I see no problem with the fine.

I was riding my Harley in Pcola once when a lady crossed 6 lanes of traffic and nearly sideswiped me. I followed her to her turn and shot her with my finger (index). I was thinking that if this was the old west she'd be dead. Guess I was lucky...

Wow, are kids playing cops and robbers or cowboys and Indians going to be fined $300 for each instance now?

I think the fine here would be for communicating threats. I bet the writer of this article was playing off all of the ridiculousness in schools making a headline out of the finger gesture. It IS a crime to communicate a threat.

I thought making threats is not a crime. (See Don Kates, "Guns, Murders, and the Constitution").
Anti-gunners seem to believe that if we just pass enough laws, we can have utopia. Unfortunately, utopia is NOT one of our choices.
