Man shoots burgler "on a hunch"

KERSHAW COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Kershaw deputies say a repeat burglar is off the streets and in the hospital after being wounded during his latest robbery attempt.

The burglary that almost happened was in Kershaw County near the Lee County line late last night.

Pedro King, 65, says he was the one who shot the intruder, Stoney Lee Wilson.

"I was sitting there taking my shoes off and I was about ready to throw them on the couch," said King. "Door swung open and I shot him."

After burglars broke into his son's home earlier this week, he hunkered down inside Sunday night with a gun on a hunch. How'd he know? "I just had that feeling," he said.

King says it was all very calculated.

"I was getting him in the leg," said King. "That's where I aimed. Didn't want to kill him, didn't want him to suffer."

Glad he's ok, but he needs a fix to his ID10T error.

Thanks, Mr. King, both for stopping this criminal and for giving us a tutorial in "What not to do in a home-invasion robbery scenario."

A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands - love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper - his hands remember the rifle.

    he should have said,

ďIím terribly, terribly sorry I shot him through the heart.
I was lying on the couch and when he startled me. I must have raised my weapon so quickly from the sudden movement of the door being kicked in. I guess the momentum raised the barrel higher than I thought. I was aiming for his legs. I didnít want to kill him after all. I only wanted to scare him like he scared me.
He terrorized my son so badly I had to go spend a few nights in his home to give him comfort and help him to feel safe in his own home again after the last break in. I only decided to take my weapon at the last moment as a last resort safety measure. Itís a terrible thing this taking of life of criminals as they need to suffer long Prison Terms with a limp rather than being put down like a Vicious Animal. Oh, how will I live with myself for what Iíve done?? I think I need Grief Counseling!!!! I am in shock!!! That poor, poor man! Why did he pick my sons house to burglarize?Ē

Good and bad shoot. Good in the sense he did at least stop the threat of the home invasion.

Bad in the sense that his statement should have been...

"I was really aiming for his leg when I fired, Officer. I don't know how all those rounds ended up in his chest?!?"

So shoot him in an extremity that carries one of the largest arteries in the human body.

If he didnt want to hurt or kill him he should have hugged him or given him flowers when he broke in.

He might want him to suffer, if and after he recovers enough to seek and get some revenge, or sues him in court, of course. Unfortunately, there is often a price for being too nice.

ARRGGHH. Why did I have to go and read "Travling's" comment...

I am amazed by people who profess their own idiotic drivel to be law. Do they really think they can just make it up as they go?

This dirtbag, Wilson, is in the hospital. After that, deputies say he will go to jail. They say they've connected him to a string of burglaries.

Well, Mr. King, I bet he's back at your place when he gets out...watch your back.

Next time aim to the CoM, to stop another string of burglaries.OMO
