Man in stun gun death on cocaine
VALLEJO, Calif.—Preliminary tests show a Vallejo man who died after being hit with stun guns by police was on cocaine, and authorities say the drug may have contributed to his death.
The Solano County Coroner's Office released the findings in the death of Michael White on Wednesday. They say the 47-year-old appears to have died from excited delirium syndrome, a condition in which the heart races wildly—often because of drug use or mental illness—before giving out.
A final report on White's death is pending.
Police say they hit White with several stun guns on Tuesday afternoon after he became violent and charged at them. White was suspected of an earlier attack on an elderly neighbor.
He was pronounced dead a short time later.
White's family says he was not a drug user and questioned the officers' use of stun guns.

An 8 Ball wasn't in a pouch on your duty belt Guantes?
People are always looking for someone to blame. Why can't a family member just once say "My brother/father/whoever really messed up and shouldn't have fought the police?

From what I have read, most Taser deaths result from being very high on some sort of drug.
If your heart is already racing and stressed out, the zap from a Taser isnt going to help things.
Of course, you have to look at why he was Tased in the first place...

Ahhhh....but times have changed. The " automatic butt kickins" that were administered for certain crimes and were very effective are now considered to be "excessive force".
A shame really. Everyone understands pain, no matter how much of a thug they are.

Excited delirium is a controversial term used to explain deaths of individuals in police custody, in which the person being arrested or restrained shows some combination of agitation, violent or bizarre behavior, insensitivity to pain, elevated body temperature, or increased strength.[1] It has been listed as a cause of death by some medical examiners.[2][3]
NPR and ABC have reported that excited delirium only appears as a cause of death where police are involved in restraining agitated individuals.[4][5] The term has no formal medical recognition and is not recognized in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. There may also be a controversial link between "excited delirium" deaths and the use of Tasers to subdue agitated people.[6]

" Excited Delirium" dosent seem to take into account that most deaths by Taser can be attributed to two things....
Heart patients that have known heart problems and taking drugs associated with them,
and people that are higher than a kite on drugs or very drunk.
Even the original article saw the fact that the guy that died by Taser was on Cocaine. His family denied that he was on drugs...but then again, most do. Some honestly dont know about it and others dont want to admit that little Michael is a total screwup and junky.
Heres a novel idea...
Dont do drugs and dont do something stupid that gets you Tased and you wont have to worry about getting killed by a Taser.
