I was stunned to catch that the robber did not have a round chambered when he came in the store. That scary click-clack will make them do what I want! Good grief. It's been an interesting week around here. The beating/rape home invasion and this.
Hickory police are searching for a man who used a shotgun in a robbery of the Mountain View Food Lion on N.C. 127 South this week.
Authorities released surveillance photos Friday of the masked robber making his way into the store at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The man wore a hooded sweatshirt with a red or brown bandanna covering his face. He was armed with a black tactical shotgun.
Customers were in line when he walked up, pointed the gun at the cashier and ordered her to give him the money in the register, said Sgt. Brett Porter of the Hickory Police Department.
When the cashier didn't cooperate quickly enough, the gunman chambered a round and told her she had three seconds to cooperate before he would shoot her.
She gave him the money and he left the store. Witnesses did not see if he left on foot or in a car and they didn't see which way he went, according to the police report.
He was in and out of the store in less than two minutes, Porter said.
The suspect is described as a white male about 5-feet, 8-inches tall, 160 pounds with a small build.
"There's no indication at this point that anyone else was involved, but we can't discount that possibility," Porter said.
There are no similarities between this robbery and past robberies in Hickory, based on the suspect's description and the method he used, he said.
If anyone has information about the robbery, they are asked to call the Hickory Police Department at 328-5551.
