    Yes. From the linked article:

One of the teens is an adult. 18-year-old Jalohn Irby told police that it was Woods who ran out of his house and swung at him first. Now Irby and one of the teens face charges of felonious assault. Police do not believe the the other teen took part in the beating.
At least Jalohn (another scumbag with a goofball name) is up for major prison time.

So. Any lessons to be learned from this? This resulted from him tapping his horn. The guys made a move on his car and it sounds like he had to speed away. Because they showed up at his house, it means this all happened close to his home.

Seems to me that if three thugs menace me that close to home, it's worth a call to the cops. If an error was made here, it was in assuming the guys would just disappear and go away during the run to the store. Once returned, he should have been on high alert, just in case.

No comment on the actual fight as I wasn't there and can't assess that. But 3-on-1 is very bad odds, even if you're highly trained. Best to start moving and don't let them take up an attack position that lets them maximize their numbers. I hope he recovers quickly and fully.

    I feel for this guy.

Having been in his situation twice in my, when I was younger, I vowed to never be defenseless again.

Hopefully the next guy they attack has made up his mind to be prepared to respond appropriately.

Glad he survived to have the chance to make a decision to arm himself.

Too bad he wasn't carrying. It would be a nice ending if the story read "Homeowner shoots three thugs trying to assault him".

    That's what I'm talking about.

I have "Katrina" evacuees that live 2 doors over. 4 families in one house...Thugs. We have the same issues. They block the street, assault kids and parents, stole my neighbors purse with her watching and chasing them....Leo's said they could not arrest them ..because lack of evidence, even though she witnessed it. The Leo's told her to change her locks on house and car. She could not afford the car ignition yet, so always parked in garage....until she came home to make a quick sandwich...yep, stole her car. She was in her house less than 5 min.. They egged a lady's house....and when she came out, they egged her. They are kicked out of school for assault or they do not go. Real gems.

The subdivision is trying to get them kicked out. Supposedly have 90 days. They are known around the whole neighborhood. The person renting them the house is getting deluged with complaints.... and says she is going to evict them. We will see.
I have not had issues...yet. They messed with my 80 year old neighbor, basically took over their yard and I made them leave.
I am sure I am on their list. They are scared of my dogs. I have 3 Choc. Lab, Weimaraner and a mutt 1/2 Wiemy/1/2 lab. The dogs hate them and let them know it without leaving my yard. When they are out in the road loitering, I let my dogs out to go to the bathroom, lol, it is funny. They scatter, climb cars, run in the house, jump in cars. My dogs are trained and will not leave my yard.
Obviously, I always carry around my house and yard.

Hope he recovers, and gets his cc and carries around the house. Also hope that the BG's do hard time. Victim also needs to get himself a couple large dogs of the mastiff, american bulldog, or pit bull type, at least if this took place again it would even the odds.

Hoodlums wanting to become murderers, all because he wanted to pass. They took a blip on the horn as a challenge to their infantile manhood meters.

May the law come down on their heads heavy and hard.

Given what so many poor, amoral idiots are prepared to do to upstanding people, these days, it's surprising that anyone goes outside unarmed. Perhaps he'll take it as a "sign" to get his CHL and some decent training, yes.

It's sure a lot easier to work in my yard without having to carry but... it's stories like this one that convince me otherwise. Sometimes you don't have to do anything more than glance at someone who's looking for trouble and they're in your face!

That is horrible, I cannot even imagine feeling so helpless in your own home. You have your dogs and the means and state of mind to defend your self and neighbors, but they might not. I would hate to be in that kind of a predicament. Good on you for standing up to them. Be careful and carry on!
